Better Opportunities for Single Service Members

The Better Opportunities for Single Service Members (BOSS) program represents the voice of the single Service member. If you're a single Service member, BOSS members advocate for you by advancing quality of life issues on the installation, and in the barracks, to senior leaders on post and throughout the Army.  "Let Your Voice Be Heard"

The BOSS program is based on three program pillars:

  • Quality of Life
  • Community Service
  • Recreation and Leisure

As a member of BOSS, you have a voice in how you live, how you spend your leisure time and how you support the community around you. BOSS Single Service Members:

  • Coordinate and participate in community service projects
  • Organize recreation and leisure activities
  • Actively support the quality of life needs of single Service members

The BOSS Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month at 4:30 p.m. at the Hobson Recreation Center on the Presidio of Monterey.

Presidio of Monterey BOSS partners with CSUMB (California State University Monterey Bay) Student Athlete Activities Committee

Thanks to all the BOSS Representatives that attended the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) meeting at CSUMB. The group discussed topics such as Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Make-A-Wish Foundation, an upcoming dodgeball tournament, Military Appreciation Days, tailgating parties, and other ways to expand our new military-university relationship.

That meeting was just the start to a great partnership between our military community and the local university. To continue this relationship, COL Fellinger requested the creation of a “SAAC Liaison” position to participate with the Executive BOSS Council. We are looking forward to a long-lasting partnership.

LA Lakers Hall of Famer, Jerry West, visits the BOSS Council

West Virginia native and LA Lakers Hall of Famer, Jerry West, paid a visit to the BOSS Council meeting to congratulate the Single Service Members on their commitment to community service. West urged the group to continue "giving back" throughout their lives. West and wife, Karen, make numerous charitable contributions to support athletics and academics, including a recent gift to the West Virginia University Athletic Academic Performance Center in memory of his brother, David, who was killed during the Korean Conflict.
