Celebrating Military Children

Month of the Military Child

#
Note: This event has already passed.

Military children make up a very special part of our nation’s population. Although young, these brave kids stand in support of their military parents through regular moves and deployments. In 1986 Secretary of Defense Caspar W. Weinberger designated April as the Month of the Military Child. Since then, each April, Military and Civilian families together have honored Military Children’s unique contributions and sacrifices to our Nation.

In celebration of the Month of the Military Child, U.S. Army Child & Youth Services (CYS) Presidio of Monterey hosts the annual Celebrating Military Children’s festival. The event consists of an Information Fair, barbecue, free giveaways and many children’s activities including bounce houses, special performances, arts & crafts booths, face painting and petting zoo. The Celebrating Military Children event attracts an average of 1,200+ attendees every year which include Military and Department of Defense families plus local and out-of-town residents who come out to support our Military Children.
